About Us: Fab Lab Tulsa is an IRS qualified 501 (c) (3) tax exempt; not-for-profit makerspace located in the Kendall-Whittier neighborhood of Tulsa. Fab Lab Tulsa delivers education, community, professional and business programming that teaches innovation, design-thinking, problem-solving and change-making. In addition, the lab provides open and equitable community access to advanced manufacturing and digital fabrication tools, equipment, technology and resources.
Position Overview: The lab Intern position at Fab Lab Tulsa is responsible for providing a high-quality student experience while enforcing facility policies and procedures. The position will assist with student lab activities with machine and computer operation. The lab intern will work with the lab manager and lab assistants. Personal qualities of the lab intern include strong technical, mechanical, computer and/or software ability, as well as strong communication and organization skills, and a positive and proactive attitude. Additionally, the lab intern is expected to encourage a creative, inviting and dynamic atmosphere in the lab to foster interaction and collaboration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supervise and monitor students and activities
• Enforce lab health and safety policies and practices
• Demonstrate and instruct students in machine and computer operation
• Perform routine maintenance of lab machinery, computers and software
• Inspect and maintain lab supplies and materials
• Clean and maintain lab facility
• Document, photograph and share lab projects
• Perform other tasks of a similar nature as may be required
Qualifications and Skills:
• Must love working with students in a professional manner that is sensitive to diverse audiences and backgrounds
• Must be excited to learn new design concepts, computer software and technologies
Reports To: Lab Assistant
Number of Positions: Two
Compensation: $13 Per Hour, Maximum 5 Hours Per Day, 25 Hours Per Week
Schedule: Lab interns will work four days for Fab Lab Tulsa and have one day of paid professional development with Tulsa Public Schools each week. Work hours are based on scheduled classroom times and vary week to week.
• Week 1: Monday, July 12 to Thursday, July 15 from 9:00am to 2:00pm
• Week 2: Monday, July 19 to Thursday, July 21 from Noon to 5:00pm
• Week 3: Monday, July 26 to Thursday, July 29 from Noon to 5:00pm
• Week 4: Monday, August 2 to Thursday, August 5 from 10:00am to 3:00pm
