STEM Institute: Plant-A-Seed Greenhouse Project
Education For Scholars, Inc.
Our “Plant-A-Seed” greenhouse project will integrate project-based and hands-on STEM/STEAM activities. Students will get their hands in the ground, dirt between their fingertips, and watch the beauty of nature grow from a single seed. The plants that the students will be growing will be shared with the school's community. This project has been designed to provide a learner-centered experience where the student is at the focus so that the individual can take ownership of his/her learning. The program supports inquiry, STEAM learning, teamwork, and nutritional health. The cohort of students will work together to plan, plant, and tend its garden plants. The greenhouse also serves as a classroom for projects and experiments, which are guided by students’ questions and interests. Not only will students engage in gardening but they will experience college and career preparation activities. Other STEAM activities may include robotics, coding, gaming, and website designing.
